Veronica Bradford
From Freeradio
Radio Veronica was a pirate station from Bradford, from 1987 into early 1988.
Broadcasts started in the spring of 1987. Initially, broadcasts took place on Sunday evenings from 8pm into the night. By late summer, Veronica was broadcasting on both Sunday and Wednesday nights.
Frequency used was mainly 105.5 FM, but occasionally 104.9 FM was used.
A very broad variety of music was played, from classical to heavy metal, and including cheesy instrumentals by Apollo 100 and the Brighouse and Raistrick Brass Band (Floral Dance). The programmes were very controversial.
The main DJs heard were Stephen and Christine, with occasional programmes from Ken Crescendo of Radio Britannia.
