Radio Cracker
From Freeradio
Radio Cracker was a set of charity RSL stations, run by the Oasis Trust as part of their Christmas Cracker fundraising appeal.
The first Radio Cracker stations were on-air in the run-up to Christmas 1991. There were Radio Cracker stations on-air in many towns that year.
The same was true in the run up to Xmas 2002, then Radio Cracker's Harlow station was also broadcast via the Astra satellite (used at the time for Sky TV).
The station's slogan was "Care on the air"
by Xmas 1993, the Radio Cracker project had waned somewhat, although there were still Radio Cracker broadcasts in a number of towns, including Nottingham and Glenrothes.
To this day, there are still a handful of Radio Cracker stations - including in Ballymena, Northern Ireland[1]
