Metro FM used to broadcast to Birmingham from 1988 into the 1990's. Format was black music and community info.

Began test transmissions on 9th December 1988, with full programmes following shortly afterwards Initially weekend broadcasts, soon became daily and eventually 24 hour 7 day operation

Continued broadcasting in early 1989, probably the largest of the pirates to do so (after many had closed down to apply for the Birmingham community radio licence)

Initially on 104.9, soon moved to 105.1, by mid-1993 was on 105.3
