East End Radio
From Freeradio
East End Radio used to broadcast on 96.6 in late 1986 / early 1987, from the Attercliffe area of Sheffield.
Format was mostly pop music. The DJ heard was T.O.P.
Heard with a reasonable signal as far as Clowne.
In the first few broadcasts heard (in late 1986) - presumably test transmissions - non-stop music was aired with gaps in-between the tracks (album sides?). Occasional announcements at the time stated that East End Radio was "not a radio station", but was "your local transmitter".
Subsequent broadcasts, however, did sound more like a radio station, with announcements in-between the records. An "East End Radio" jingle was also heard, occasionally.
