Clowne
From Freeradio
Clowne is a village in the north-east corner of Derbyshire, in the north east Midlands.
Thanks to its location on an escarpment, Clowne is fairly high relative to the surrounding areas and is quite a good place for radio DXing. (Probably the best place for DXing near Clowne is the high point of Hickenwood Lane).
Due to its proximity to Sheffield, Conisborough and Rotherham in South Yorkshire, and Mansfield in Nottinghamshire (all within 15 miles), pirate radio stations from these towns have in the past been heard in Clowne. High power stations from further afield such as Leeds, Bradford and Nottingham have also been heard in Clowne in the past.
